OUTSIDE SEATING
It's been fun watching people enjoy a glass of wine on the outside deck of the shop. First official customers to enjoy the outside seating were Jesse and Sandy, who had encouraged me to apply for permission from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, or the Liquor Gods as I prefer to call them. When I received the approval, I told Jesse and Sandy "the Liquor Gods have smiled upon me."
There are three tables outside (yes, this is a cozy place!) and two sit against the window of the shop, the other sits solo in a larger area. I envisioned this one round table as the "community table" and hoped people would share this table and welcome others. Jesse and Sandy happened to select this table to share a bottle of wine to christen the deck, and as they were enjoying the late afternoon sunshine, a certain other local strolled by in some of that lovely footwear she is prone to wearing on her post office trips. One wonders if there were mail delivery to houses in Yachats if Ms. Lovely Footwear would ever leave the house.
Anyway, Jesse and Sandy invited Ms. Lovely Footwear to join the party, and also invited builder Lou Caputo and I to join them. Lou was just in paying his tab and went back to work (he's finishing up that beautiful building adjacent The Wine Place) and I joined the table outside. Along came Debbie, who works at the Gourmet Lady -- she joined the party, and Ms. Lovely Footwear left to continue her post office run. Stefan, the Oregon Wine Guy, came to deliver wine but couldn't resist pulling up a chair to join the festivities at the community table. And thus the vision of a gathering place became reality in one sunny afternoon. |
