Thu., Sept. 2, 4-7 PM Fun with French Wines! Yes, a random Thursday night tasting – not advertised to the public – just on the website, email and on Facebook. Three wines to try, one each from the Loire, Rhone, and Bordeaux regions. Pop in at happy hour, say hello, and try these reasonably priced French wines.
Special note about Labor Day weekend: On Labor Day weekend, an art show will be offered during the same time as wine tasting. Artist Senitila McKinely will display her paintings on both Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4 and 5, from 1-4pm. McKinley is a native of Tonga, the director of Seashore Literacy Center, and homeless liaison for Lincoln County School District. She spends much of her work life with homeless, hungry and sick people. But in her spare time, she produces beautiful paintings in bright, vivid colors bursting with love and emotion
Sat., Sept. 4, 1-4 PM Coeur de Terre. Founded in 1998 by Scott and Lisa Neal, Coeur de Terre is a family business with a vineyard located in the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range. They planted the vineyard, live on the estate, farm and land and make the wine. Following a strict regimen of organic farming techniques, they produce the most elegant and concentrated wines possible. Get up close and personal with owner/winemaker Scott Neal.
Sun., Sept. 5, 1-4 PM International Flavor. Take an international tour of flavor with wine sampling from Italy, Spain and more. Meet distributor Aaron Coe who has traveled extensively in Europe seeking out the best of wines.
Sat., Sept. 11, 1-4 PM Laurel Ridge. Laurel Ridge is one of the oldest vineyard/winery sites in Oregon with a rich history. Northern Oregon's first winery was reputedly established there in the 1800's by German immigrants. Meet Sarah Mader in her first visit to The Wine Place, and enjoy samples of Twin Forks red and white wines, a sparkling wine, and a Zinotage blend of Pinot Noir and Zinfandel.
Sat., Sept. 18, 1-4 PM High Pass Winery. High Pass is located in Junction City, 15 miles northwest of Eugene. They have 20 acres of grapes from vines first planted in 1985, and make handcrafted wines. Meet Dan McNally and enjoy samples of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Rose and Pinot Noir.
Sat., Sept. 25, 1-4 PM Saginaw Vineyard. Saginaw Vineyard is at the southernmost tip of the Willamette Valley. They specialize in traditional, handcrafted wines and produce less than 2,000 cases annually. Meet distributor Stephen Cutler and sample Saginaw wines.
Sat., Oct. 2, 1-4 PM German Wines. Monika Rauch, wine importer and educator, is our special guest of the day. Monika was born and raised in Germany's wine country, and is passionate about the wines of her native country. This is your chance to try some interesting and unusual wines.
